If you have a WordPress Blog and want to join in with Naked Day tomorrow then Aja Lorenzo Lapus has created a plugin to make life easier for you.

Just install the plugin and select if you want to join in for the recommended 48 hours or just 24 hours.

You can download the plugin on WordPress or the Plugin Home Page.

Tomorrow is ‘CSS Naked Day’ but unfortunatley the Customer Street blogs are to corporate to go naked. It’s a shame because it’s for a good cause.

CSS Naked Day

Why go naked ?

It’s not for money or charity, it’s simply to promote and encourage web standards. All you need to do is remove all the styles from your website to join in. This is the third year of CSS Naked Day and every year there has been a huge responce.

It has been mentioned to me that this is considered ‘Geeky’ but as Alex (Customer Street CSS) pointed out

It’s to promote web standards, and seeing as MOST of today’s business uses the web in some form, I think you’ll find that having standards is a very good idea.

Alex will be joinging with http://www.syst3m32.co.uk and it’s already looking to be a fun day.

You can find more information on CSS Naked Day, code for your website and a list of some sites going naked for the day on http://naked.dustindiaz.com/

I have added several features to help the CustomerStreet blogs with accessability this week.

The first was the option of different text sizes in the right hand sidebar. The second was added this morning andhapls you view the posts of our blog using a mobile device. Clicking here to continue to the mobile version.

If you’re after a quick way to assist mobile users to veiw your blog (or any website that has an RSS feed) then here it is. There is no need to reconstruct your blog with a new mobile stylesheet, just use Google’s mobile RSS reader.

Just use the following link

http://www.google.com/reader/m/view/feed/[your url]

That’s it.  Your users can now view your posts quickly.

Iphone users can view our website as normal.

As an employee of Customer Street I need to keep up to date with all the latest design techniques. The best way I have found to do this is to regularly read web design articles and look at some of the best web designs on CSS Galleries.

One common mistake a handful of ‘wanna be’ web designer have is to blatently copy someone elses work. This is where they take a copy of someone elses website, change the logo and content, and then try to pass it off as their own. I’ve seen some really extreme copies where they don’t even change the logo !

Have a look at these screen shots

Paulo

I can understand using certain ideas from other websites as I do it myself, but I only ever use ideas from other websites if I can rebuild them and call them my own.

Remember: There is INSPIRATION and there is just COPYING. Don’t fall in the trap !
