Welcome to the Customer Street Web Design Blog.
My name is Neil Thurlwell and I will be managing this blog and adding webdesign articles on a regular basis. My role at Customer Street is to assist and support the SEO Manager to ensure that all webdesigns are visitor and search engine friendly.
Customer Street is one of the UK’s leading new media advertising services.
I started in the industry in early 2001 working for a business to business internet service provider. I initially started in sales and as my knowledge progressed I moved to an Account Manager role. This meant I was personally responsible for the day to day running of around 1000 business accounts. As I was advising clients on what websites should be like and how they should work, I thought it would be best if I found out first hand by creating my own websites.
As I had 3 young children I decided to build websites that would help them learn and then developed in to online shopping. Designing customer focused websites with added features to enhance the chances of visitors turning in to customers.
It was then a natural progression to thinking more about getting more visitors to these websites. This triggered my interest in SEO. Afterall, why have a website if no one will ever see it ?
Over the years webdesigners and search engine optimisation specialists have divided. For a long time, if you had a good looking website or a function packed website, you would struggle to get a company to apply SEO techniques to it.
Now you either need a combined solution or to have both working hand in hand. This will give you a very good looking website that is very search engine friendly.
I will be adding regular hints, tips, tricks and samples of how things should be done.
